White Fillings for Kids
December 30, 2021 9:34 pmWe hope your child never has to deal with a cavity, but the good news is that if they do develop one, there are multiple ways to treat it so their smile can stay strong and healthy. One of the most common ways to treat a cavity is with a dental filling. There are a few different types of fillings. One is a white filling, which is also sometimes called a tooth-colored filling. In this blog post, we give an overview of this restorative treatment.
Benefits of a White Filling
One of the biggest benefits of a white filling is that it blends in with the color of your child’s natural teeth. It won’t change the appearance of your child’s smile so they can continue to smile with confidence. It will also stop the spread of decay and strengthen their tooth.
Process to Get a White Filling
The general process is the same for any type of filling. First, we apply a local anesthetic to numb the treatment area so that your child can stay comfortable. Then, we remove any decay within the tooth. Finally, we place the filling material in the tooth and then make sure it’s properly bonded together.
How to Care for a Filling
White fillings don’t necessarily need any special care outside of what your child normally does to look after their teeth. For example, make sure your child brushes and flosses every day, consumes a balanced diet low in sugar, and visits Tots to Teens Pediatric Dentistry for regular check-ups. At their routine visits, we’ll evaluate the condition of their fillings and let you know if they need repair.
